Junipalooza, an annual event in Melbourne brought to fruition each year by The Gin Queen and The Gin Foundry has once again proven and wonderful success, even with a few location difficulties leading up to the event.
With a quick change of venue to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the event didn’t lose any of its fabulousness with 50 distilleries bringing their A-game to over 3000 Gin lovers over 3 sessions in two days.

Attending our 3rd Junipalooza with our Fossey’s Float in tow, we enjoyed spending a few days talking with all of the fabulous folks who visited our stall and also swapping yarns (and gin) with others in the industry.

An amazing thing is the industry of Australian Gin, an industry of such positivity and support you’d be hard pressed to find a grumpy distiller who wasn’t keen on encouraging others and testing ideas on others in the know.

One of the most glorious things within the industry, is the diversity.

Yes, we are all in ‘competition’ (for want of a better word) but we are all so completely different in what we deliver and how, that not many would see it in that way.

And this is certainly something that comes to light every year at Junipalooza. With so many distillers in the one location recommending one another and happily encouraging punters to visit other stalls, this event is truly one of the most anticipated Gin events of the year.

For Fossey’s, it was a chance to showcase some items that we haven’t previously brought along to Junipalooza.
Our 2019 vintage Shiraz Gin was by far a show stopper and we were very excited to bring along our newly released Gin & Tonic Cans which proved a big hit with Melbourne consumers!

It was fantastic to have so many return customers, and it is unbelievably thrilling to have folks come to our stall on the recommendation of others.

Of course, the Saturday sessions proves to be a big party and we are absolutely here for that!

A few sore heads (mainly from our distillers) on the Sunday but the show went on for a more serious buying/selling day and of course, a day for trade.

November 2019 brings the release of one of the most anticipated seasonal Gin’s in the Fossey’s range.
Our Elixir number 4 and a yearly sell out, Fossey’s Christmas Pudding Gin brings something a little bit magical to Christmas time each year.

Taking Nanna’s trusted family recipe handed down from generation to generation, we first make a genuine Christmas Plum Pudding (or two) and as is tradition, the Puddings are hung in the pantry on broomsticks.
Not sure about your family, but this certainly marks the beginning of festivities in ours (yes, even in October the scent of Christmas is in the air).

Our pudding is made with only the best Mildura grown dried fruit and as well as the normal brandy, a small swig of last year’s Christmas Pudding Gin is also thrown in for extra yum!

After which a two step process follows to bring the flavour of Christmas Pudding to our Gin.

A very special run of our Original Elixir is scheduled as we also include Christmas Pudding into the basket along with botanicals and citrus, leaving us with a divine Gin steamed Christmas Pudding which has become a favourite amongst Fossey’s staff and patrons alike.

Subtly Christmassy, then we take it to the next level by immersing another pudding with the Gin and allow to steep for 3 – 4 weeks to fully extract the glorious pudding flavour.

We take great pride in creating our Christmas Pudding Gin each year, and as the anticipation for release builds we cant help but get whisked away in the excitement of what year’s batch will bring.

Our Christmas Pudding Gin is best served simply, with a premium tonic water and an orange twist.

Estimated release date for this year is November 21st.

Paying homage to the iconic Australian cult movie and stage show ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ Broken Hill comes to life in spectacular fashion on September 7th, 8th & 9th as The Palace Hotel hosts their 4th annual Broken Heel Festival.

Never ones to shy away from a party or an opportunity to support fellow regional towns, Mildura’s own Fossey’s Gin have jumped on the Silver Stiletto of Sisterhood and fully embraced the ever evolving and growing festival by creating a specialty Gin just for this event!
Fossey’s Broken Heel Gin has exceeded even the Distillers expectations during the trial period and is shaping up to be a best seller.

Fossey’s Broken Heel Gin showcases a magnificent strawberry flavour, of which is surpassed only by the spectacular shimmery pink colour.

Bringing in local graphic designer Kylie Norton Design to embrace and combine the themes of both Fossey’s Gin and The Broken Heel Festival, the collaboration has been a first for all parties but certainly not a last.

“We love working with the folks of Broken Hill,” says Cherie Gowers, Fossey’s Gin Manager. “With a dramatic increase in visitors to our Ginporium who have either come in from the recommendation of our Broken Hill partners or who are on their way to this iconic location, we are absolutely thrilled to be working in collaboration to bring to fruition something that’s just a little bit spectacular that both towns can claim as their own!”

The Broken Heel Festival have extended their laneway hours this year to include the Sunday evening and attracts a crowd of 1000-1500 through the gates each night with a large contingent travelling from Sydney and our very own Mildura.
Fossey’s Broken Heel Gin will be officially launched in Broken Hill on Friday September 7th.
